Skills and experience


Responsibility for delivering elements of multi-million pound construction projects involving marine works, and ideally in the Thames area.

Marine civil construction management experience including piling, dredging and major lifting operations over water use of jack-up and spud leg barges.

Significant experience of setting up and implementing construction management processes for complex engineering and construction projects.

Familiar with the NEC 3 form of contract

Role content and overview




Management of the delivery of marine construction works in Central Delivery Team


Management of contractors at site to ensure the construction works are delivered safely while maintaining positive relationships with local stakeholders.


Ensure focus on delivering transformational health and safety performance is maintained, with particular emphasis of working on or near water.

Develop a tailored application of systems, process and tools suitable for management and supervision of the Boat Relocation works contractor

Carries out readiness reviews prior to mobilisation and in advance of critical activities.

Lead reviews of construction documentation to support construction activities including RAMS, temporary works design and supporting construction processes and procedures.

Supervises the contractor on site

Monitors the quality of the works, with issues raised to the contractor and NEC Supervisor as required

Work in cooperation with other Delivery Areas and project team members in developing systems, processes and tools

Identify and support the development of processes and procedures required within the Programme Integrated Management System (PIMS)

Secure agreement of any processes, procedures and associated features required which are common to other Area Delivery teams

Assist and work with Project Manager to ensure that Thames Tunnel`s HSSE/CDM, quality, financial, risk management, business and policy expectations are met throughout works activities

Develop change requests in accordance with project procedures

Provide audit and oversight to ensure Contractor budget, schedule and quality commitments are met for the relevant sections of the Central Area

Take responsibility for work progress and technical performance of sections of the Central Area as required

Support, review and challenge design development including valuation and constructability reviews of Contractor proposals in the relevant section of the Central Area.

Develop and manage relationships with critical stakeholders in the relevant section of the Central Area.

Produce daily and weekly reports of site progress.

Ensure site progress photos are archived in a retrievable way.

Participates in site safety tours and ensures these are recorded in the Tideway safety reporting system, currently RIVO.
