GKN Aerospace Luton, part the GKN Aerospace Special Products Group, manufacture highly technical products for a significant customer base including Boeing, Airbus, Pratt and Whitney and Lockheed Martin. The Role:

GKN Aerospace Luton are recruiting a manufacturing engineer to join a high performing team providing support to the Wings & Rotors Focussed Factory, including the 787 Dreamliner Wing Ice Protection System. The team and its members are responsible for:

* Leading and contributing to practical problem solving activities using lean tools, particularly in relation to scrap and rework cost reduction.
* Leading and contributing to process improvement activities, with a vision of creating world class, 6-sigma manufacturing processes.
* Supporting complex manufacturing processes and capital equipment, including a 5-axis CNC machine, autoclaves and automated robotic cells.
* MRB support for complex and technical composite products with an encapsulated heater element formed of a sprayed metallic coating.
* Capital equipment life cycle, including specification, procurement, commissioning, preventative maintenance and reliability management.
* Comply with the Company's Health and Safety legislation and policies.

What we will be looking for in you:

* A degree in a relevant engineering subject is highly desirable.


* Demonstrable experience in the use of lean problem solving tools.
* Experience in a composite manufacturing environment.
* Demonstrable experience in project management; specifically creation of and adherence to robust project plans.
