Content Editor needed ASAP until December 2017 paying £13.12 an hour.

My client, a public sector department, requires a content editor to join their team based in London.

In this role you will be working with a variety of digital and policy teams to identify content aimed at local authorities and make sure this content is published to a new digital platform.

As one of our content editors you will always start with user needs. We will be creating digital products and services that people prefer to use over other options, and words play a big part in that. You'll represent users with the written word, so you need to be user-focused and know how to write with a user, not the department in mind first and foremost.

You'll need to be able to:

identify content for specific audiences and understand the user needs
take complex language and processes and make them simple to understand
make the case for user-focused design
be able to explain your decisions clearl
working with the policy leads to review and identify content specifically for local authorities and understand user needs
working with teams developing new platforms and services to identify where content will be publishes
scoping, commissioning, writing, editing and publishing digital content
making sure user journeys are the best they can be
managing relationships with subject matter experts to make sure content is accurate
producing content assets that are accurate, timely, high quality (based on insight and outputs of user testing, relevant to the audience, easily understood, optimised for search engines) and to style choosing the best format for displaying information to the user.
making sure appropriate policy and legal checks within other parts of government happen, and that content is published quickly and efficiently
monitoring the performance of content and tools, identifying ways to improve the content and the product
providing constructive criticism to your colleagues to improve everyone's skills and work

We are a small team and we work closely together. You'll be expected to work with the whole team, on all and any of our projects. Sometimes at a moment's notice. That could mean working with developers, designers, policy specialists, legal teams, senior management - anyone we need to produce world-class online platforms and services
