The Client

World class automotive business who are currently experiencing rapid growth require a Powertrain Metrology Technical Manager to join the business based at the site in Whitley, West Midlands.

The Role

The role of the Powertrain Metrology Technical Manager will revolve around the following responsibilities:
• Find the ideal balance between performance and sustainability while responding to the environmental issues.
• Provide engineering and metrology technical leadership and support to design as well as developing and implementing processes to enable successful design verification, launch and warranty issue resolution through metrology
• Provide technical support to daily operations of the new Powertrain Metrology facility
• Propose and lead the delivery of technical metrology projects and both develop and maintain standards for our Powertrain community to conduct measurement and analyse data
• Monitor metrology requirements and develop technology road maps and specifications for future metrology capabilities and be involved in developing and implementing future Powertrain metrology facilities

Required Experience

As Powertrain Metrology Technical Manager you will have proven experience and understanding of advanced metrology technology including CMM, structured light, portable metrology form measurement, X-ray CT and surface texture, along with the definition, specification, installation and delivery of advanced metrology equipment.
You’ll have previous involvement with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, solving metrology-related engineering and manufacturing problems and applying knowledge of NIST, ASME, ISO and other relevant metrology specifications. These will include lab quality management systems, uncertainty evaluation and measurement equipment capability qualification and verification. You’ll also demonstrate experience in metrology data analysis software such as CMM software packages (CALYPSO/QUINDOS/PC-DMIS etc.) and point cloud analysis software (GOM Inspect, PolyWorks).

As Powertrain Metrology Technical Manager you’ll have strong technical leadership and project management capabilities including the ability to multitask. You should also be comfortable challenging cross-functionally at a variety of levels within the business as well as being results-driven and determined to deliver in a complex and highly demanding environment
