GC68 – Project Manager (Emissions)

Location: Peterlee

Salary: £40,000 to £48,000 depending on experience - 3% pension contribution by the company


As part of the Group, our clients are world leaders in the design and manufacture of exhaust gas control systems for on/off highway and marine diesel engine applications. Due to the continued growth of their business, they are looking to recruit an experienced Project Manager who can work with their Design Engineers to assist with business growth going forward.

Reporting to the Design Manager, you will have a mechanical engineering background and ideally have strong proven people management skills gained from an automotive and/or engineering business. With previous experience in a customer facing role you will be able to communicate effectively with a small team of Design Engineers and other relevant departments within the business.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provides guidance and supervises a group of Design Engineers (usually 2 per Project Manager)
* First point of contact to the customers
* May assist in design engineering performance appraisals
* Assists purchasing/quality/production departments with communications and developments with component/process suppliers for technical and project related items
* Has an understanding of the business milestones and strategic performance criteria
* Responsible for all project and technical related items from RFQ/Concept to Prototype and Production/Aftermarket, including:-
o Technical compliance to customer specification
o APQP activities
o FMEAs (design, process, etc)
o Creating and maintaining project plans
o Delegating/distributing project related tasks/information to other departments
o Managing the process and delivery of prototype orders
o Assisting the validation manager in creating project specific validation programme, etc

Skills and Experience:

* Must be degree qualified (ideally in Mechanical Engineering)
* Must have an automotive/engineering background
* Must have strong management skills and be at ease with customers – these are key to the success of this role
* Will have solid project management experience
