Mandatory Training Officer - North Division ( Health and Safety Training Lead)

35 hours per week, 26 k per annum

Location - Garforth, Leeds Office - North Division

Key objectives:

* To lead on arranging and delivering the mandatory training (primarily health and safety training) within the North division including organising venues, admin, delivery and the evaluation process.
* To promote health and safety initiatives and good practice and a commitment to continuous improvement.
* To record and document attendance on training on mandatory training for the North Division.
* To research and develop an expert understanding of health and safety issues in respect of housing and care services.

Main Tasks:

* To design and deliver mandatory training including health and safety training , throughout the division, including updates on policies and procedures in collaboration with other teams.
* To recommend and deliver new training to staff to meet health and safety expectations.
* Ensure that changes in legislation are applied through awareness raising, implementation, good practice guidance and training.
* Contribute to Health and Safety good practice divisionally and feed into the North Division Newsletter (North Star) on relevant health and safety areas.
* To set up systems to evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety training delivered with a view to continuous improvement
* To check on health and safety compliance and good practice based staff on visits to services as requested by the Property Manager.
* To promote and maximise attendance at mandatory training events through a variety of communication media, helping our teams to 'self-serve' their training needs via the Team pages.
* Manage (via the LMS) the scheduling of all internal mandatory training courses - following the end-to-end process from venue booking, trainer/supplier availability, delegate invites, course confirmations and record of attendance.
* Track training activity to ensure delegates receive fair notice of their requirement to attend at a location within a 'reasonable' distance of their work-place and ensure any issues of non-attendance are flagged to their line manager promptly.
* Deliver or arrange training for non Health and safety Training skills which are part of the mandatory requirement eg via the L+D Team pages.

Essential Requirements:

* NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
* Training certificate such as train the trainer or training skills and practice or Preparing to Teach in the life long learning sector (PTLLS) now known as Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
* Current First Aid at Work Certificate
* Ability to effectively communicate health and safety legislation into clear, pragmatic, usable and relevant practice.
* Good people management and communication skills.
* Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office based programmes and ability to learn new IT systems i.e. LMS
* Exceptional organisational skills with a sound ability to prioritise work load and solid eye for detail.

Desirable Requirements:

* NEBOSH Diploma, (or equivalent).
* Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector delete as is an Essential
* Certificate in IT skills for use of Microsoft Office.
* First Aid at Work Trainer and Assessor qualification
* NEBOSH Fire Certificate or equivalent.
* Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate
* Experience of Housing / Care sector.
* Previous experience of development and maintaining of reporting programmes
