Youth Support Officer Manchester £21,000

RECLAIM is a grassroots values-based organisation, which has young people at its core. We work towards a society in which working class young people are positively seen, authentically heard and can lead meaningful social change.

RECLAIM has an outstanding track-record of delivering successful, topical, thought-provoking youth-led programmes and campaigns. We support our young people as activists and work hard to ensure that they have the tools needed to be effective changemakers - seeking out long term solutions to society's thorniest problems.

The role is focused on developing the skills of a group of young people (aged 13-18) to drive one of our biggest campaigns to date: Team Future, a youth collective standing up for the rights and futures of all young people. We are seeking a Youth Support Officer to work closely with a brilliant group of young people to ensure this (already) award nominated campaign delivers national impact.

The post will work with the Team Future Campaign Lead and be focused on delivering engaging sessions with young people to build their skills and to facilitate them to ultimately take the lead of the campaign.

About you:

* You will be an experienced and innovative youth facilitator, confident in practicing a strengths-based approach.
* A youth work degree or relevant educational qualification and over 2 years work experience, preferably in a strengths-based environment
* Experience leading Youth-Led programmes/campaigns, mobilising large numbers of young people at a time
* You will be able to translate learning and campaign objectives/outcomes into engaging workshops, and will be confident in developing session plans both individually and with colleagues.
* You understand the importance of enabling young people to take the lead, and see yourself as much as an educator and facilitator as a youth worker. You have experience of developing young people as critical thinkers and active participants in everything you deliver.
* You will be flexible to work evenings and weekends when needed.

* Excellent interpersonal skills with both young people and adults: in a one-to-one setting, co-working with colleagues/stakeholders and in large group settings.
* Creative and full of ideas, able to work collaboratively with both staff and young people
* Ability to plan and deliver engaging, energetic sessions with groups of up to 30 young people on complex issues
* Coaching young people in making speeches, networking etc - able to push young people to be the best they can be
* Proactive and energetic with the determination to drive through plans and activity
* Highly organised, with great time management and attention to detail
* IT literate

Please note the deadline for applications is 23rd June at 5pm and the post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check.

We look forward to hearing from you.
