Want to embark on the next phase of your actuarial career with one of Britain's Top Employers?  Then read on!

The Role

The successful applicant will be joining our Reinsurance Risk team, a new and developing part of our Life Actuarial division. The primary focus of the role is to support the management and development of relationships with our external reinsurance suppliers, and to ensure our reinsurance arrangements are optimised through the application of sound actuarial and commercial principles.

On a day-to-day basis, you could be involved with:

- collating, monitoring and analysing Management Information on the operational performance of reinsurance arrangements with our external partners;
- supporting negotiations with internal or external counterparties as part of any proposed reinsurance arrangements;
- assisting with the oversight of obligations and deliverables within our reinsurance contracts; and
- supporting any required reinsurance-related changes as a result of new acquisitions or wider project activity.

We’re looking to build synergies between our Reinsurance Risk management activities and other core actuarial functions such as Investment Risk and Capital Management, so we’re looking for a talented actuarial professional to join us on our journey.

With exposure to technical committees, an exciting programme of projects on the horizon, and the opportunity to nurture and grow your relationship-building skills with a range of internal and external stakeholders, this could be just the opportunity you’ve been looking for!

What we're looking for:

Ideally having already completed the CT series of exams of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (or alternatively, with a good level of actuarial or insurance-based experience to an equivalent level), you must be able to demonstrate a high degree of technical knowledge and know-how, particularly around the concepts of Life products and reinsurance arrangements.  You should be able to demonstrate solid IT skills, good commercial awareness, and a proven track record in delivering high quality work in a controlled manner within a strict operating framework. An ability to clearly communicate findings and recommendations to senior actuarial colleagues and other stakeholders will also be essential.

Things change quickly at Phoenix, so you’ll be comfortable when “thinking on your feet” and adapting to change, and you’ll have the drive, initiative and independence to formulate ideas and drive solutions through to completion. An ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively and credibly with stakeholders is essential in a role like this.
If you feel you have the technical, analytical and relationship-building skills to excel in the role, we’d love to hear from you!

Please note, this role does not offer formal study support towards the IFoA actuarial exams, but we’ll be happy to discuss any bespoke professional development needs which could help you to progress in your actuarial career with us.

We take our commitment to diversity and inclusion seriously, and we welcome applications from those interested in undertaking the role on a flexible working pattern.
