The Royal College of General Practitioners is the largest membership organisation solely for GPs in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1952, it has over 51,000 members who are committed to improving patient care, developing their own skills and promoting general practice as a discipline. General practice is the largest branch of the medical profession. It provides some 1 million consultations for patients in the UK every working day and deals with 86% of the health problems experienced by the UK population.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Executive Assistant to support the Chair of Council, Professor Helen Stokes-Lampard. This is a busy, high profile role and you can expect to work with senior level stakeholders in Ministerial offices, Department of Health, NHS England, offices of Presidents and Chairs of other Medical Royal Colleges, Members of House of Commons and House of Lords and a host of leading charities.

The successful applicant will have the skills, motivation and confidence to work in a fast paced, highly visible team responsible for all aspects of supporting the elected Officers of the College. You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, have excellent organisational abilities which you combine with tact and diplomacy to make sure the Chair`s diary and inbox is managed with the utmost efficiency.

You should be a team player, and enjoy contributing to the development and continuous improvement of office systems and event management. You are an excellent communicator, and able to get on with staff/stakeholders at all levels.

Knowledge of medical terminology and challenges facing General Practice would be an advantage.

A flexible approach to working hours is necessary as there is a need for early starts and late evenings from time to time as well as the possibility of occasional overnight stays.

In return, the College offers excellent terms and conditions.
