About the Role
It’s an exciting time in Surrey’s schools and learning service. An opportunity has arisen to join the new senior leadership team and help steer the service into a bright future.
Surrey County Council (SCC) has 355 mainstream schools, 22 specialist schools and 47 specialist centres attached to mainstream schools. As of Jan 2017 we had over 153,000 children on roll at Surrey schools, 16,400 of which having special educational needs (SEN) support.
The landscape of education is changing, as a result of policy and funding changes Surrey’s current education system is no longer affordable or sustainable.
The purpose of this role is to proactively ensure we are keeping pace with and maintaining a robust policy and quality assurance framework with regards to our education system. This will support ensuring we learn from best practice and adapt to meet legislative requirements.
You will manage the change team within schools and learning and be responsible for delivery of change programmes and resource planning across the service. You will be responsible for embedding a continuous improvement culture, where the child’s voice is at the heart of what we do and you will ensure that risk and quality are managed. Working alongside the Assistant Director for schools this role is part of a new leadership team and will provide a real opportunity to drive change forward in local government with likeminded people.
Given the nature of the role and challenges ahead we are searching for someone who is an outstanding communicator, relationship builder and influencer. An ability to deliver significant change across multiple sites with partners will also be essential to be successful in this position.
