Job Title: System Integration Developer

Location: Birmingham

Salary: up to £50,000

Closing date: 7 July 2017

Purpose of the role:

This role will provide design, development and support services to varied systems and provide expertise in the integration between several systems in the Bank. The development will focus primarily on Misys Equation with further development work on other technologies possible. This is a key role in the technology team focussed on delivering the strategic initiatives of the Bank.

Key responsibilities and tasks

- Design, development and implementation of functionality on Misys Equation;

- Hands-on development work in iSeries and other systems;

- Support the current iSeries based enhancements in the Bank;

- Design, development and implementation of iSeries based solutions;

- Provide 3rd level support for supported applications as required;

- Develop & maintain detailed documentation to provide high quality support to internal customers;

- Maintain good working relationships with internal customers;

- Providing potential options to resolve issues in a timely manner;

- Follow Change Management processes for systems changes;

- Work as necessary with internal and external support functions when major incidents occur;

- Manage work based on prioritisation within the team;

- Contribute and initiate the design of high level solutions.

Performance Measures

- Implementation - Deliver effective functionality enhancements as required by the business. Minimum disruptions due to implementation changes;

- Implementation - Follow the development and project management guidelines in the Bank;

- Support - resolving incidents to support IT Servicedesk;

- Support - Building and maintaining a knowledgebase;

- Support - Raise the level of support knowledge of the lower tier support functions;

- Procedures - Review and enhance procedures to support business needs;

- Staff - raising of technical competence by appropriate use of training and development.

Competencies, skills, knowledge and experience to undertake role


- Degree qualified in information technology, engineering or related subject;

- Significant development experience gained on Misys Equation;

- RPG development experience on Misys Equation;

- Proven experience in Technical and implementation consultancy in Equation;

- Design and development expertise;

- Financial Services experience;

- Analysis and technical Equation support experience;


- Vendor management experience

- Deliver Equation services using Eclipse

- Knowledge of Java/J2EE and other technologies

- Experience of working in Islamic Banking

Other requirements specific to the role

- 'Can do' attitude

- Flexibility and motivation to meet tight deadlines when required

- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills are essential

- Occasional travel will be required to branches and suppliers within the UK

- Out of hours support and occasional weekend work will be required
