Hackney Housing is looking for an experienced commercial gas engineer to help us maintain the properties we look after. We manage over 30,000 properties for the Council. Your role will be to help make sure these homes are maintained to a high standard for the people who live in them.
You will be working on properties across Hackney and sometimes in other areas. The work will involve aspects of servicing, repairs and maintenance to boiler plant room apparatus and safety equipment. Working on commercial gas and oil fired appliances, hot water and heating systems, boosted water sets and dry risers etc. You will also need to carry out some multi-skilled repairs such as minor plumbing, electrical and finishing works to provide a comprehensive repair service.
Some of this work is physically demanding, you may need to climb ladders and lift heavy objects. You will need to apply common sense to your work, be able to manage your time and take pride in what you do. You will need experience in a commercial plant environment perhaps having worked for a Housing Association, Local Authority or in a school or hospital. You need to hold a full, clean, UK driving licence, have a City and Guilds in Heating and Ventilation or NVQ Level 3 equivalent or relevant experience. You need ACS qualifications CCN1, CEN1, HTR1, WAT1, CKR1, MET1, City and Guilds 6084 Energy Efficiency. Ideally you will also have Part P Electrical and Warm Air Units DAH1, Unvented Hot Water and Boiler Management Systems (TREND). You will also need to have IT skills as you may be using a hand held device to record your work.
