Reed Education is assisting a college for pupils aged 19-25 with Special Needs recruit for a Teacher to plan, prepare, deliver and assess high quality Mathematics lessons across the age / ability range. This college has a strong framework and reputation for supporting students with ASD, Complex Needs and SLD develop social independence and work towards obtaining skills and qualifications needed to secure a job within their local community.

Days of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm (40 hours per week), term- time only. This role is to start as soon as the right candidate is available to start.


 To contribute to the strategic planning and delivery of Mathematics across the organisation.
To raise standards of learner attainment and achievement of Mathematic skills and to monitor and support all learners’ progress.
To ensure the provision of an appropriate, relevant and differentiated Mathematics curriculum.  To assist in the sharing of good practice in Mathematics teaching across other curriculum areas.
 To deliver high quality Mathematics teaching, learning and assessment across the age / ability range.
To support the development of the learners’ skills of independence and employability, through the delivery of relevant Mathematics programmes and to promote Mathematics as a life skill.

Experience required to be successful in this post:

Ability to produce excellent quality learning and teaching materials and demonstrate innovation and differentiation in terms of delivery.
Commitment to continual professional development and/or staff training.
Ability to teach learners from Pre-Entry to Level 2 ability ranges.
Ability to teach Mathematics in both vocational and academic contexts.
Ability to set challenging and relevant numeracy targets and support staff in other learning contexts to set targets
Teaching experience including, planning, delivery and assessment of learning.
Experience of working with people with SEN
A good understanding of SEN or a specific need (e.g. relating to autism, dyscalculia)
Demonstration of improving learner outcomes

Qualifications required:

Qualified teacher QTS / QTLS
Level 5 specialism in Mathematics
