As a Service Desk Engineer, you will provide remote and on-site technical support to internal staff and clients. You’ll be involved in a range of projects, client support activities and the maintenance and development of the company’s own internal systems.

You will support Windows Server, Small business Server, and operating system implementations.

Working from a ticketing system, you will provide support via phone, email and remote tools, log your activity, escalate where required and follow-up to ensure a successful resolution.

Projects will typically include installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and upgrading hardware, software, storage, backup solutions, networks, other peripheral equipment and hosted systems.

Additionally, you’ll support in-house system improvements, provide expertise to assist junior team members and suggest enhancements to current processes and systems.

Interested? If so, you will need a GCSE (or equivalent) level education. You will also need at least one of the following MCP qualifications (or hold an MCSA or MCSE):

- 70-410 (Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012)
- 70-688 (Managing and Maintaining Windows 8)
- 70-687 (Configuring Windows 8)
- 70-640 (Configuring Windows Server 2008 Active Directory)
- 70-410 (Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2008)

You will also need a full driving licence and your own transport coupled with suitable business insurance.

The ideal Service Desk Engineer will also have experience of networks, including routers and switches, and TCP/IP, MS Exchange, Active Directory, backup solutions and antivirus software.

Experience of the following would also be beneficial: implementing a variety of projects, working with external software and hardware suppliers, and using network troubleshooting tools.
