Accounting & Audit Manager

A rare chance has arisen to join the management team of one of Coventry's leading Practices as an Accounting and Audit Manager, if you have been working in am 2-4 partner or similar size Practice as an Assistant Manager and now looking for the next step, this is the job for you.

Your daily duties would involve:
CLIENT PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT

  • Day to day point of contact for clients in portfolio
  • Build and maintain client relationships
  • Deal with client queries throughout the year and liaise with director responsible
  • Liaise with the personal tax team on any tax matters relevant to the client
  • Liaise with the directors on any relevant matters

STAFF MANAGEMENT
Assist with coordinating the timing and staffing of accounts and audit assignments to ensure

  • Appropriate levels of staff are allocated
  • Budgets are met
  • Internal and client deadlines are met
  • Staff receive the appropriate ongoing training and development
  • Discuss any relevant staff issues with the directors
  • Discuss any possible system, quality or efficiency improvements with the directors
  • Authorise overtime/annual leave/TOIL for the accounts and audit team

ASSIGNMENT MANAGEMENT
Accounts

  • Review of accounts files completed by the accounts team for presentation to directors
  • Discuss and resolve key issues with clients when required
  • Regular communication with the directors with regard to progress and issues
  • If and when required, preparation of accounts and corporation tax computations and returns (including iXBRL tagging)
  • Ad hoc accountancy services for clients as required

Audit
Manage audits of companies and groups both onsite and in the office

  • Liaise with client to arrange all necessary timings
  • Coordinate the audit team
  • Liaise with component auditors
  • Review planning, fieldwork and completion carried out by the audit team
  • Deal with any issues as they arise
  • Assist the audit team with the more technical areas as required
  • Attend planning meetings (internal and client) and close meetings with the directors
  • Regular communication with the directors with regard to progress and issues

Complete audits of companies and groups (initially to learn the system then only as required for cover)

  • Prepare the statutory accounts, including consolidation if required, and corporation tax computations and returns
  • Complete all aspects of the audit file (budget, planning, fieldwork and completion) for director review
  • Review the work of the other audit team members
  • Regular communication with the directors with regard to progress and issues

Due diligence

  • Assist with the due diligence assignments for client deals
  • Prepare report for purchasers/vendors
  • Liaise with vendors and vendors’ accountants to gain access to necessary information
  • Liaise with investigating accountants and corporate finance professionals to provide necessary information

TECHNICAL

  • Maintain up to date accounts, audit and corporation tax knowledge
  • Attend regular CPD webinars and courses
  • Assist accounts and audit team with technical queries
  • Provide regular accounts and audit updates for the team
