Assistant Management Accountant

Description

Responsible for creating the management accounts to enable the company to monitor past performance and make sound commercial decisions based on the financial information that the finance team provides. Ensure all known variances to last year and budget are identified and explained.

Reports to: Financial Director

Responsibilities

• Assist in the monthly financial statements . Complete the financial statements and review and reconcile the general ledger accounts to ensure the statements are accurate and complete

• Responsible for monthly production of partnership accounts and resolve any issues.

• For the overseeing of accounts payable process, from coding of invoices to ensuring they are posted to the GL and that they are paid in a timely manner

• Preparation of all month end journals, accruals prepayments, cash book transactions etc.
• Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and review of those accounts with the US finance team
• Review of P&L against budgets and forecasts
• Working with other departments to help control their budgets
• Assisting the Financial Manager with cash flow management and forecasting
• Reconciliation of daily banking reports against merchant account reports
• Submission of Direct debit collections 
• Setting up supplier payments and intercompany transfers on Barclays internet banking.
• Assisting the Financial Manager with the monthly financial metrics in preparation for the monthly management accounts review with the US/UK team.
• Preparation of the monthly VAT return for approval and submission by the Financial Director
• Dealing directly with customers taking credit card payments
• Liaising with our trade partners and creation of booking schedules
• Ensuring that we pay HMRC on time for PAYE tax and national insurance payments
• Maintain marketing accrual and prepayments sheet
• Assist the other finance team members as and when required

Requirements for this role

• The successful candidate would ideally be AAT qualified or ACCA/ACA part qualified and is looking to take the next step in their career.
• You will have a good eye for detail but be able to also see the bigger picture
• You would be used to working to tight deadlines and be able to work under own initiative.
• You will need good communication skills and be able to liaise with both finance and non-finance individuals.
• You will need to be computer literate with an intermediate excel skills (to pivot tables, Vlookup and sumif’s) and a solid understanding of double entry book keeping.
• Experience in Microsoft AX and Power Pivots an advantage
