Job Title: Unit Lead - Challenging Behaviour Units
Location: Walsall
Reporting to:: Unit Manager
Hours: 36 hours per week (supernumery shifts)
Salary: £16.50 per hour

Time recruitment are proud to represent a well established client who are looking for a Unit Lead.

The centre comprises of two units within the Care Home. The two units unit form part of its specialist care centre with a total of 29 Challenging Behaviour for dementia beds.

You will work as part of the Care Home Management team in the capacity as Unit Lead, to provide clinical leadership and advice to the registered Manager in order to ensure Service Users receive the highest quality of care. To ensure all Service Users are treated with dignity and respect and that individual care planning reflects the Homes commitment to excellence of care.

The responsibilities linked to this position can be summarised as follows:
" Provide clinical leadership to both CBU Nursing Teams and Carers and offer support and guidance
" Participate in the provision of Service User care
" Actively participate as a team member and supervise others when necessary.
" Maintain Audits and ensure all documentation shows a true reflection on the care practices carried out on the unit.
" Meet requirements of the organisation and regulating bodies ensuring documentation is thorough, staffing levels are adhered too, adequate training is provided to all employees on the unit and incidents reported using the correct channels.
" Health & safety procedures are observed
" Individual Service User assessments are carried out in order to identify the full extent of care nneeds and to ensure that these needs are re-assessed as and when necessary to ensure the on-going care of the service user.
" Effective measures are in place to ensure that infection control is properly and professionally managed in the Care Home.
" Effective measures are in place to ensure that proper procedures are used in all situations involving the movement and handling of service users.
" Effective measures are in place to ensure that all nutritional and dietary needs are properly provided.
" Any need for specialist medical intervention is assessed and evaluated for all service users.
" All GP requests including medical administration, treatments and dressing for each Service User are professionally implemented.
" Proper responsibility is assumed for the drugs/medicine cupboards and trolley in order to ensure that they are stocked correctly and when any unwanted drugs are disposed of correctly.
" Full responsibility for personal nursing practice according to NMC is accepted and maintained.

Experience and Job Related Knowledge:

" Previous experience working as a Registered Mental Health Nurse is essential
" Previous supervisory and/or management experience is essential
" Knowledge of health, safety and welfare
" Experience of administrating drugs
" Maintain a wide knowledge of current nursing practices
" Attend mandatory training sessions
" Assess own learning needs and accept responsibility for continuing education

Abilities and Aptitudes:

" Excellent written and verbal communication skills ie must be able to complete detailed Service User care plans.
" Excellent organisational skills
" Must be flexible
" Must be able to prioritise
" Ability to work as part of team and on own initiative ie operating and leading a shift in absence of care home Manager

Preferred Experience:
Experience of working in care industry
Experience of working with the elderly
Experience of working with people with disabilities or dementia
