Meggitt CSS or Customer Services & Support encompasses 500 people across 27 facilities worldwide.

We’re dedicated to servicing Meggitt’s commercial and military aircraft products, through our MRO and spares distribution operation - that means thousands of products arising from Meggitt’s 25+ core capabilities ranging from fire detectors to wheels and brakes. There’s a brand-new dedicated team for sales, commercial, customer support, logistics and operations, and a new regional structure to ensure prompt service for all our customers, across the US, Asia and Europe.

Meggitt CSS is part of Meggitt PLC who are a global engineering group specialising in extreme environment components and smart sub-systems for aerospace, defence and energy markets. Some 11,000 people are employed across manufacturing facilities in Asia, Europe and North America and regional bases in Brazil, India and the Middle East.

Purpose:

To lead the UK based spares accounting function (MAS UK). This activity is currently supported remotely from the US and the business is undergoing significant growth, so an individual comfortable and capable of operating during times of exciting, positive change is essential.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Ensure the delivery of robust financials, as well as driving their improvement through business partnering with the site team
  • Lead the forecast and budgeting processes for MAS UK
  • Responsible for timely month end deliverables (actuals/forecasts/budgets) to PLC HQ
  • Lead for all internal & external financial audits at MAS UK, and ensure the financial control environment is consistent with the Meggitt Finance Policy, GAAP and/or IFRS
  • Ensure data integrity to support platform/program profitability analysis
  • Preparation of UK tax pack & UK statutory reporting pack
  • Provide both leadership and hands-on support in the month end close process
  • Generate appropriate analysis to pro-actively support the management team in making data-driven decisions (eg gross margin analysis, overhead reviews, etc)
  • Oversee the VAT, Duty, and EC Sales returns
  • Ensure appropriate balance sheet reviews and controls are in place
  • Capital expense management, including support of proposals and tracking actuals to plan
  • Primary interface between MAS UK and Meggitt’s Shared Service Centre
  • Manage the transfer of AR/AP/Intercompany activity to the Financial Shared Service Centre
  • Responsible for complex financial accounting activities, for example: contract rebates, warranty provisions, inventory E&O provisions etc
  • Headcount reporting
  • Providing ad-hoc support to the CSS EMEA Finance Controller on wider HQ & EMEA activities
  • Manage and develop one direct report

  • Ability to travel (largely within UK) between Meggitt locations
  • Self-motivated, well organised, ensures their personal and department goals are met
  • Capable of performing well under pressure
  • Highly computer literate, with advanced Excel skills advantageous

Key skills and competencies required:

  • 7+ years relevant finance experience
  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA / CCAB)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Management, Accounting preferable
  • Large corporate experience advantageous
  • Quantum, SAP and BFC experience would be advantageous but not essential
