We are recruiting for an Production Manager in the Lancashire area.

As a Production Manager you will need to have:

* Experience within an fast paced production Engineering environment
* Experience of a continuous improvement process
* Experience of Production Planning
* Ability to read technical drawings/schedules
* Attention to detail is a must!
* Flexible approach - this company operate both and nights


* Salary: £35,000 to £45,000 dependant on experience
* Working Hours : 7.30am to 5pm standard hours but flexibility is needed
* Duration: Permanent
* The company is easily commutable from Preston, Blackburn,Bolton and Burnley

Key aspects of the a Production Manager role

* Plan and control efficient scheduling of production
* Plan production to meet delivery using efficient allocation of resources
* Control of work flow to shop floor
* Timings to be monitored and achieved and any discrepancies reported
* JIT methodology
* Reduce the 7 key wastes through effective planning and strategy, (Overproduction, Waiting. Whenever goods are not moving or being processed, Transporting, Inappropriate processing, Unnecessary inventory, Excess motion, Defects)
* Initiate and monitor improved methods for production processes through use of key performance indicators
* Manage between 50 and 70 staff, including performance management and training/development planning
* Assess competency levels with a view to raising levels where needed
* Monitor employee performance
* Ensure rotation of skills and processes to aid flexibility and improve workers autonomy
* Oversee Quality Control and implement changes where necessary to ensure customer satisfaction
* Health & Safety
* Promote continuous improvement ethos and practice lean processes within production - Six Sigma, 5S, TPM, SPC or SMED
* Develop positive relationships with customers. Provide responses in a timely manner.
* Liaise with Sales and Customers directly to review and update schedules.
* Liaise with Administration and Purchasing to ensure orders are processed and raw materials delivered within time constraints.
* Work closely with Drawing Office to ensure design for manufacture and value engineering is achieved for all projects, taking into account current work centre loading.
* Give instruction to Shop Floor Supervisors on daily/weekly/monthly requirements.
* Organise and chair meetings to ensure targets are being maintained.
* Work together with upper management to ensure new projects for improvements are being achieved and over-see daily tasks on shop floor with a clear "challenge" ethos.
* Set out clear instructions to Shop Floor Supervisors and implement Standard Operating Procedures for compliance.
* Initiate disciplinary proceedings when required.
