Providing an efficient, high quality and comprehensive costing service within an AHSC with a busy acute teaching hospital, and offering timely appropriate advice and recommendations on total absorption costing methodology to clinical divisions and corporate directorates. Preparing and maintaining a complex costing database to support the preparation for mandatory costing returns as well as in-year financial reporting and decision making. Calculate unit costs for inclusion within contracts where appropriate and undertake periodic benchmarking reviews with the national averages.
Ensure all developments in relation to national tariff and costing guidance are modelled within the trust to inform the financial planning and decision making process.
Be responsible for preparation of benchmarking reports in liaison with other trusts and communicate the findings to line management and key stakeholders at divisional and directorate level.

 Educated to degree level
 CCAB qualified (or equivalent)
 Mandatory CPD
 Worked within the NHS or similar
organisation for at least 2 years
 Up to date knowledge of NHS
finance with a focus on costing
 Working knowledge of national
tariff payment system
 Experience in team planning
and appraisals
 Experience of undertaking
complex analysis
 Ability to provide regular training
to budget holders and other
 Experience of computerised
systems and software including
spread-sheets, databases, word
processors and email
 Experience in working with
minimal supervision
 Management of projects involving
substantial changes in working
processes and procedures
 Project management and review
 Experience of investigation and
analysis into financial issues
including evidence of detailed
and precise report writing skills
 Experience of dealing with
multiple stakeholders and having
the ability to handle conflicting
