Our client, a highly reputable manufacturing company in Gainsborough are currently seeking an Accounting Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to join a first class team.


* Processing Purchase Ledger invoices
* Dealing with any supplier pricing queries
* Reconciling supplier statements
* Processing weekly BACS payments
* Closing the purchase ledger at month end
* Daily update of the cash book
* Weekly cash reporting to Group Treasury
* Weekly reconciliation of multiple bank accounts
* Processing all petty cash transactions and monthly reconciliations
* Processing of monthly expense claims and payments
* Daily correspondence with AR team on cash received
* Assist with the preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns
* Monthly Intrastat calculation and submission
* Cover for weekly payroll and pension administration
* Assist with year-end statutory audit
* Answering phones and fielding general enquiries and other correspondence
* Secretarial work including opening of post, scanning invoices to the system and filing
* Liaison with HMRC, Companies House and Office of National Statistics
* General support to the Accounting Team, assisting with any other duties as requested by the Financial Controller.


* The successful candidate will ideally be working towards their AAT qualification or recently AAT qualified.
* Experience in industry, ideally in a manufacturing environment, would be a definite advantage.
* Good technical skills and knowledge of internal controls.
* Strong Microsoft Excel skills are essential, systems experience of SAGE and Oracle would be advantageous.
* Be used to working to strict deadlines and be able to demonstrate initiative, an organised approach to work and great attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills and be able to think logically and analytically.
* The ideal candidate will be a methodical worker that forms part of a strong Accounts Department.

Hours of work are 08.30 - 17.00 Monday-Friday
