Job Title: Finance Assistant
Location: Sale, Manchester
Hours of Work: 37.5 Monday to Friday
Salary: 18-20k per annum
Responsible to: Finance Manager
Responsible for: N/A

Job Purpose
The purpose of the role is to support the existing Finance Manager in maintaining financial controls and records. You will use Sage Line 50 Accounts and ad hoc Excel spreadsheets.

The Department
The Finance Department provides a complete financial service to the whole of the Company, addressing all issues of a financial nature and providing all relevant information to meet external demands.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES/TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITES:

1 Work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure the smooth operation of all finance matters.

2 Processing all monthly expense and mileage claims ready for payment.

3 Keep the P11D information up to date.

4 Reconcile the company credit card.

5 Responsible for the company petty cash and its reconciliation.

6 Responsible for the Post Office Card (franking Machine) top up.

7 Mobile phone analysis

8 Generating Sales invoices, posting payments, customer reconciliations

9 Deal with customers and external agencies.

10 Prepare purchase orders and match to purchase invoices

11 Coding and processing of purchase invoices.

12 Supplier Statement reconciliations

13 Dealing with supplier payment requests and queries.

14 Produce the weekly supplier payment run.

PERSON SPECIFICATION - FINANCE ASSISTANT

Experience:
2 years using Sage Line 50 - desirable
4 years office experience.

Knowledge:
An understanding of accounting processes and procedures
Basic understanding of double entry bookkeeping

Skills & Abilities:
Enthusiastic, calm and professional disposition

Good IT skills and confident in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

Accurate keyboard skills.

Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person
Strong attention to detail and able to produce work with a high level of accuracy.

Good organisational and workload management skills specifically with
the ability to prioritise own work and re-prioritise when necessary.
Able to work in an office environment that often demands high levels of concentration, while coping with frequent interruptions.
Integrity and understanding of care needed with sensitive information.
An ability to be discreet, diplomatic, reliable and trustworthy.
Able to analyse information

Good problem solving ability

Willingness to accept responsibility.

Qualifications:
GCSE English and Maths minimum C Grade.
Desirable - AAT qualification or willingness to work towards
