Vacancy - Buyers Assistant


Contract: Permanent

Reporting to: Buyer

This is a key role within a dynamic, dedicated team. This role is responsible for many key aspects of the buying cycle within multiple exciting categories, which has a direct impact on the success and profitability of the company. This role will be actively involved in all areas of the business and this will lead to extensive interaction with other departments at all levels - including senior management - plus contact with suppliers.

Job Description

  • Managing and organising samples for review
  • Emailing suppliers for quotes and chasing the information required
  • Updating the buying master with relevant information and ranging
  • Creating new products in the system
  • Raising purchase orders and sending them to suppliers
  • Maintaining communication with suppliers regarding purchase orders and deliveries
  • Creating and maintaining information for upload
  • Ensuring all new data is accurate and complete
  • Liaising with the web team regarding new additions and assets
  • Running Daily and Weekly reports with the Merchandise Assistant
  • Managing price and information changes
  • Organising and preparing supplier selection meetings
  • Attending supplier selection meetings where necessary
  • Providing support and assistance to the buying team

Skills Required

  • Buying experience or experience within a retail environment
  • Highly organised with attention to detail when performing tasks
  • Capability to anticipate and manage problems with an ability to prioritise and escalate where necessary
  • Knowledge of, or a strong desire to learn about the buying process
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong combination of analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for products and desire to learn about the brands
