The largest water and waste-water services company in the UK is seeking a Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance Technician to join its expanding team based in Banbury. On a typical day, it supplies 2.6 billion litres of top quality drinking water and its 350-sewage treatment works to treat more than 4.2bn litres of waste-water. This high-profile role is at the forefront of an exciting time of change as the team is embedded within the business and brings technical expertise closer to the front line. You will be exposed to varied transformation projects across the sludge stream such as energy generation, energy consumption and chemical / de-watering and directly contribute to the success.

As the Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance Technician, your duties will be to:

• Carry out scheduled planned maintenance work on mechanical equipment in compliance with company procedures in order to minimise plant breakdowns.
• Investigate the nature of plant failures and subsequently carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to avoid interruptions to the process.
• Carry out the installations, refurbishment and commissioning of the electrical plant to specification and on time.
• Investigate and diagnose complex faults and carry out repairs during incidents.
• Provide technical advice where appropriate; making reference to up to date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
• Complete jobs to the required standard noting any findings on your company device and following the required reporting methods.
• Carry out an assessment of spares and materials required to complete work effectively, where necessary ordering additional items via the Manager.
• Ensure the health & safety of yourself, colleagues, visitors and members of the public is excellent at all times.
• Work according to good housekeeping procedures and maintain a clean and safe working environment.

To be a successful Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance Technician you will have the following skills and experience:

• A multi skilled technician with an indentured electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ or C&G level 3 in engineering with an upskill qualification in mechanical NVQ2/3.
• Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry would be beneficial for this role, although not essential.
• The work will require physical fitness; so, you will need the ability to work in confined spaces with successful completion of the appropriate training.
• A driving licence is essential and as the post will work across a number of sites in the region.

In return, the Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance Technician will receive a salary of £30,000 - £41,000 per annum OTE. Participation in a 24/7 Out of Hours Standby rota may be required after a suitable period of training and assessment, for which you will receive an additional payment.
