Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Nottingham
£35,000- £45,000 DOE + Benefits + Flexi working
Permanent Position

I have an exciting opportunity for an Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer to join a Hi-Technology SME base in Nottingham. The company have developed and brought brand new technology to the market. They have enjoyed success over last few years where they have doubled in size and are now looking to grow and strengthen the R&D team.

Working alongside the Chief Engineer you will have full responsibility for the development of the product hardware working from conception through to production.

Key Responsibilities:

* Take responsibility for the mechanical, hardware and electronics design and development
* Manage development through its lifecycle from concept through to production support
* Management of the company PDM using an ERP system
* Creation of BoM's and production packs
* Development of prototypes
* Take responsibility for supplier selection- production, manufacturing, electronics & test
* Manage and work with external assembly, manufacturing and production teams
* Oversee external product testing

Experience and Background Required:

* A high profile mechanical design engineer with at least 5 years experience and a good track record in the design and development of electro-mechanical products
* Proficient user of Solidworks for the creation of 3D detailed designs and 2D manufacturing drawings
* Strong working knowledge of electro mechanical design including electronic packaging, PCB's, EMC & ESD compliance and testing & ingress protection
* Basic electronic circuit & PCB design or layout experience
* Basic programming: C, C++ ect
* Experience integrating bought in components & systems- sensors, cameras ect.
* Strong DFM & DFA skills
* Modern materials and manufacturing process knowledge- machined aluminium, plastic injection moulding
* Understanding of geometrical & dimensional tolerances
* Ability and experience working with and managing external manufacturing and production teams
* Experience working with external suppliers
* Ability to fault find and test electronic products & systems is desirable
* Hands of practical experience with soldering and wiring

Qualification Requirements:

* A Degree, HND, HNC or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline
