Job Title: Management Accountant
Location: Lakeside (with travel and work away from the office as necessary)
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000

Purpose of role:
The Management Accountant will have a unique combination of professional rigour and objectivity, technical accounting and analysis skills and an overview of the business, which will be able to engage as a finance business partner and create value through strategically aligned decision support processes throughout the business.

Key Responsibilities;
•Production of high quality, timely and accurate financial and management information to improve decision making and generate insight towards business performance.
•Provide effective Financial Planning & Analysis through preparation of budgets, forecasts and analysis in support of monthly timetables and strategic planning processes.

Other Responsibilities:
•Produce Operational Dashboard(s) containing Financial and Non-Financial Information for Monthly Contract Reviews.
•Ensure balance sheet accounts and controls are reviewed, maintained and reconciled.
•Responsibility for administrating key long term accounting standards involving EAC (Estimate at Completion) and IFRIC12 standards.
•Ensure all work performed is billed on a timely basis.
•Support the weekly cash-flow forecasts in accordance with central reporting requirements
•Own and drive the improvement and documentation of controls and processes in support of both operational and central governance requirements.
•Provision of ad-hoc analysis in support of projects and other tasks
•To work with other members of Skills and Learning finance team to drive forward continuous improvement within the finance and operational functions
•Prepare statutory information for and support annual internal and external audits.
•Key inputs and reviews for Staff Payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.

Key Outputs/Deliverables:
•Timely and accurate preparation of monthly management packs, management accounts, cash-flow submission, budgets, forecasts, quarterly statutory accounting and tax packs.
•Robust Management and control of Long Term Contract Accounting Models.
•Monthly Operational Dashboards

Other:
•Managing the function in line with the Group’s corporate governance policies, processes and procedures
•Protect assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference
•Comply with the Data Protection Act 1998

Key Skills / competencies:
•Excellent MS Excel Skills & Practices.
•Good MS Word & MS PowerPoint skills.
•Excellent financial & non-financial reporting and costs analysis.
•Commercially astute – Can understand and manage contractual mechanics by associating performance obligations and protections with the daily activities.

Key Analytical & Communication Skills:
•Numerically literate and able to understand and manipulate large amounts of data and detailed financial spreadsheets
•Able to understand key metrics to measure business performance and connect them to both financial and non-financial information.
•Understand activity/input driven assumptions and how they impact the “bigger picture”.
•Able to communicate finance information effectively to non-finance staff.
•Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Qualifications:
•Educated to Degree level preferred, but not essential.
•Qualified CIMA/ACA /ACCA (CIMA Preferred) Part-qualified may be considered.

Experience & Knowledge:
•Experience of Accounting Systems - Navision and Cognos would be an advantage
•Experience of complex contract & performance reporting
•Experience of producing financial and non-financial dashboards
•Experience of contributing towards wider FPA processes, i.e. budgeting, forecasting and consolidation cycles.
•Experience of creating and documenting processes & controls.
•Some experience of presenting financial information to non-finance staff.
•Knowledge of Long Term Contract Accounting principles and IFRIC12.
