I am currently looking for a Cost Accountant to be based in the West Manchester area.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join an expanding Worldwide engineering business.

The Person

You will have 3-5 years' experience working as a Cost Account for a Manufacturing / Engineering business.

The Company

My client Engineer & Manufacture bespoke automation machinery into the Pharmaceutical & Medical industries.

The Role

In this Cost Accounting role the individual will perform several important functions related to maintaining accurate Standard Costs in a plant that produces both off the shelf consumable products and large Bio Sample Storage systems. Liaison to Corporate Accounting while supporting all site cost accounting matters.


Responsibilities will include working closely with the Purchasing department in establishing standard costs for component parts and reviewing: Work Orders, Routings and Bills of Material.

This individual will also assist the Site Controller and Business Unit Project Managers to understand "Project Costs" and "Cost at Completion" for the large custom Bio Store Systems.

Works with the local Operations and Supply Chain teams in reviewing variances to Standard Costs such as Purchase Price Variances, Work Order Variances, and Overhead Absorption. Assesses root cause and drives solutions. Participates in the month-end closing process by reviewing variances, preparing journal entries, and reconciling Inventory and Cost of Goods sold accounts.

Ideally a Bachelor Degree in Accounting and a minimum of 5 years of Cost Accounting experience in a Manufacturing environment that utilized an ERP System with Oracle ERP experience preferred.

Past experience with Project Accounting is also a plus. Intermediate Excel skills are required. The successful candidate will work effectively in a fast paced and dynamic environment, work well with teams, and possess a desire to contribute to process improvement initiatives.
