Software Implementation and Support Engineer - Wiltshire

Our client provides a cloud-hosted software-as-a-service practice management system to Vets enabling them to manage all aspects of setting up and running their business. These can be one-person start-up practices, large multi-site, multi-disciplinary practices turning over several million pounds per annum and anything in between.

This role is principally concerned with two areas, each requiring some customer interaction as well as technical data and database skills.

Firstly, you will be helping us to set-up and deliver our solution to new customers. In order to take on a new customer who has an existing practice management system we have to extract information from a number of different file and database formats in various operating systems. The data needs to be collected, processed and then mapped to our solution, which itself needs to be configured according to customers requirements.

Some travel to customer sites may be needed from time to time when remote access is not initially possible, but it would not be a major part of the role.

Secondly, you will responding to emails and calls from existing customers who need first and second line support on our product. Such issues need to either be resolved or escalated to third line support, with appropriate documentation raised accordingly. Resolving them will require developing knowledge of the product and its business rules, as well as the underlying database structure. Typical actions required in order to provide customer support will include:

Providing verbal or written instructions in the use of the system.
Agreeing explicit data extract or update requirements with customers.
Running existing scripts to extract or update data.
Writing new scripts to provide data extracts or apply data updates
