Melbreck are working with this world leading designer and manufacturer of Automotive Solutions and Systems based in Milton keynes

Due to continued growth within sales and the development of new products they are looking to strengthen their quality team and as such are looking to recruit a Quality Engineer.


To take overall accountability and responsibility for the proactive management of the quality assurance systems and local quality management teams for all DCH locations that supports the achievement of business objectives and the provision of superior service. To have ownership of DCH quality key performance indicators and responsibility for closure of non-conformances to ensure continuous improvement of quality standards.

Main Objectives and Tasks

To build and maintain a good working knowledge of corporate guidelines and standards relating to quality, quality management systems, industry standards and codes of practice, hydraulic power unit systems, manifold assemblies and their assembly methods, company products and services, customers and working practices, to perform the role efficiently and effectively.

To contribute to the overall business units objectives and plan by:
Utilising knowledge, information and analysis to contribute to the development of the team, department and business unit plan
Sharing information with other to enable them to fulfil their role
Sharing ideas and suggestions for improvements
Analysing what is required to develop and deliver quality control systems and manufacturing targets
Through effective leadership, to promote a performance driven, service focussed environment by;
Creating, developing and leading an optimal team that delivers quality management and inspection services to meet the business units objectives and plans
Recruiting staff with well-defined roles and the appropriate skills and competencies
Developing, motivating and retaining individuals and promoting team working
Encouraging efficiency and effectiveness by implementing appropriate management and communication systems and processes
Enabling the team to focus on activities that add value
Building relationships with external and internal departments, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders/professional bodies as required
To provide a comprehensive proactive and effective management of the quality control system through undertaking the following:
Agreeing relevant individual/personal objectives, targets and success criteria for assigned activities and own area of work such as;
Overseeing and supporting the business to ensure processes are followed in accordance with the quality management system at Regional Centres to meet internal and external requirements, including legal compliance and customer expectations
To ensure corporate standards and guidelines relating to quality topics are implemented and maintained
Safeguarding the quality of products and processes together with sales, development, production and purchasing departments as well as our manufacturing plants
Promoting quality achievement and continuous improvement throughout the organisation
Identifying procedural non-conformances and implementing corrective and preventative action.
Monitor and report on key performance indicators to ensure compliance
Organising and leading internal and external audits (i.e. Customer audits, External accreditation bodies, corporate and internal control) , ensuring audit plans are adhered to
Supporting special requests from customers in line with DIN EN 10204/AQAP/IRIS
Supporting claim management by applying the 8D process
Liaising with the warranty department to ensure any claims relating to quality issues are investigated and appropriate corrective and preventative actions carried out
Introducing and overseeing Q-tools (8D, FMEA and Quality plans)
Identifying relevant quality related training needs and working with relevant internal depts. to ensure delivery
Overseeing activities and providing guidance to the local Quality Assurance Manager and Inspection team
Producing and developing business information reports to support quality department controls and performance improvements in line with company standards and business unit reporting requirements
Agreeing job requirements and competencies, participating in relevant training and development and asking for support as required.
Monitoring and sharing own progress and addressing any changes, taking corrective action as required.
Communicating regularly with other members of the team, department and business to ensure rapid two-way flow of information and contribution to effective team working.
Qualifications and Specialist Training

Conversant in Microsoft office products
ILM Certificate in Team Leading or other suitable management training

Member of the Institute of Quality

SAP R3 or similar integrated system

Degree/HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
