Mechanical Engineer

The client

The client I'm recruiting for is focused on an ambitious campaign of business winning and product development that needs dedicated and competent individuals to deliver the quality products that we strive to support our Customers with.

This role will involve working on fast paced prototype programmes related to major platform contracts. As a Mechanical Engineer, your specific role will focus on the design, integration, test and build of equipment at the system and sub-system levels, in order to deliver high performing products within wider project timescales.

Main Responsibilities

* Undertake the mechanical design tasks associated with the development of specific systems/equipment, involving:
o Detailed design, including the development of production drawings.
o Carry out engineering calculations as required to justify a proposed course of action.
o Input to relevant safety cases.
o Assisting in the validation of systems/equipment, including the generation of test schedules, test and integration plans and the writing/investigation of test problem reports.
o Engagement with key suppliers.
o Contribute to the planning process required to schedule work.
o Managing technical issues.
* Support o integration, build, test and demonstration activities.

The Individual

* Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline with at least 5 years postgraduate experience within an engineering environment.
* Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
* Be self-motivated and be able to work with the minimum of supervision within a team environment.

Competent in the following software packages:

o Siemens NX.
o Microsoft office, including Microsoft Visio.
o Document management systems such as Teanmcenter.
o Business management systems such as SAP.

Good awareness of:

o Security implications for technical material.
o Commercial considerations.
o Workplace Health and Safety.
* Remote working will be possible, with a reasonable amount of travel to support engagement with the wider team/product.

Highly Desirable

* Finite Element Analysis tools such as Pro Mechanica or Ansys.
* Dynamic simulation or analysis tools such as ADAMS.
* Experience of either automotive, or suspension or tracked vehicle systems.

The package

1 Position Required

12 months

Pay Rate £42.51/hr LTD - 37 hours per week
