Housing Support Worker (Newport) Ref: 00875
3 roles based in Newport, 16 & 30 hours per week
Plus a rolling three month contract covering maternity leave for 37 hours per week
(Full time equivalent salary £18,079 pa)

You'll support people with autistic spectrum disorder, with their Housing Support needs, in both a scheme setting and in their own homes

We have loads of experience supporting people with learning disabilities, autism and `challenging behaviour`, as well as providing care and support for older people.

What will you do?
You will support people to develop skills and maintain and retain a home. You will also help people find new homes either because of homelessness or because of a change in their housing requirement. You will build your own support plans and will have the autonomy to work with the person supported directly to establish their support needs. You will enable the people you support to become as independent as possible in many aspects of their lives.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a candidate who is creative and confident in their approach to support. We are looking for natural leaders who are able to work under their own initiative and who are able identify the true support needs of the people we support. You will adapt your style of support to the person you are supporting and will be able to confidently communicate with external agencies and senior management. You must be computer literate and able to drive with access to a car for work.

What`s in it for you?
We offer you a flexible role where you will mainly work Monday to Friday and are available to offer support between 9-5pm and will only be required to work very occasional weekends and will not work bank holidays. Your appointments will not be scheduled on a rota so you will manage your own weekly caseload and can do your paperwork at home. You will have comprehensive induction and shadowing to ensure you are confident, ongoing training and a manager only a phone call away. The role gives you the opportunity to empower people to live better lives therefore very rewarding. You will have the autonomy to shape the persons support in line with their changing needs.
You will be required to work with people with a variety of backgrounds and support requirements, experience of dealing with challenging behaviour an understanding or experience of working with Autism would be an advantage.

For this role you will require an Enhanced DBS check, which we pay for & your own transport.
