Victoria Walker is currently recruiting for 2x Laboratory Stewards to join a leading testing provider on a permanent basis at their office in Greater Manchester.

The company has a network of state-of-the-art, highly regulated laboratory facilities based in the UK, providing analytical services to customers in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. With worldwide reach, they deliver expert support to their clients. These Laboratory Stewards will provide a support service to the delivery teams within the laboratory in order to assist them with regulatory sample reception and storage at this GxP laboratory facility. The company is offering a salary in the region of £14-18,000pa for these roles depending on experience and the benefits include 25 days holiday, pension scheme, flexitime, promotional opportunities, cycle to work scheme, child care vouchers and more.

Further responsibilities of this Laboratory Steward will be to:
·Monitor and maintain stocks of common solvents, reagents and consumables within the laboratories, store rooms and solvent store, and identify and dispose of expired substances in line with local procedures.
·Support the housekeeping of the laboratories: cleaning and storing glassware, filling wash bottles, maintaining hygiene stations, facilitating the safe use of fume hoods. This list is not exhaustive.
·Carry out routine performance checks, scheduled preventative maintenance and log book reviews of laboratory equipment such as balances, fume hoods, reagent fridges, pipettes, high purity water units.
·Where required, assist analysts within the delivery teams in the basic preparation of reagents and samples for analysis.
·Ensure that all records are updated contemporaneously, maintained and archived in line with Quality Standards.
·Employ continuous quality improvement methodologies to all activities and use of laboratory areas with the aim of enhancing laboratory efficiency and productivity.
·Ensure incoming samples are unpacked and handled safely, examined, correctly logged in on Study Manager, stored as directed and in line with procedures, and that the relevant delivery teams are notified promptly and documentation completed fully.
·Assist with sample and material disposals.
·Generate and analyse weekly environmental storage units data.
·Respond to alarm incidents generated by environmental storage units monitoring systems.

The successful Laboratory Steward will have the following qualifications, skills and experiences:
·Ideally degree qualified or equivalent in Science (or related scientific discipline) - biologically related topic preferred
·Proven industrial laboratory experience, ideally within a regulated environment
·Knowledge and application of appropriate systems and procedures relevant to scientific method
·Knowledge of safety procedures, laboratory performance standards, handling chemicals and biological hazardous materials, COSHH
·Communication skills: written, spoken, liaising, e.g. accurate recording of data to quality procedures (GLP, GMP, GCP etc.).
·Numeracy skills: calculating/ tabulating results
·IT skills: keyboards, spreadsheets, graphic display for data retrieval
·Procedure and Standards: ability to follow established procedures (SOPs) and instructions
