Duties - To provide a professional ‘complete’ Weddings and Special Events service, ensuring the customer journey is seamless. To manage the sales process from the initial enquiry through to the actual event day and to establish a close rapport with each guest, making certain that the service we deliver exceeds their expectations. To additionally develop the hotels’ Weddings and Special Events business to deliver financial targets.

Salary: £16,000 – £19,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: Hours as required (Usually 40 hours over 5 days per week which will include evenings, weekends & bank holidays.)

Main Duties:
Ensure prompt and efficient management of all Weddings and Events enquiries, guest queries and requests.
Manage the Weddings and Events sales process commencing with the initial enquiry, the first and subsequent hotel show rounds, to converting the booking through to the final appointment.
Welcome and build rapport with every potential Wedding couple or Event guest, using diplomacy and effective listening. Identify the buying signals to convert the initial enquiry into a sale.
Manage a flexible appointment diary to suit our customers incorporating evenings and weekends.
Prepare bespoke quotations and brochure material in line with company standards.
Compile customer contracts and pro-forma invoices accurately; mailing and emailing hotel information promptly.
Liaise with online social media company to build and promote monthly campaigns.
Establish clear, effective internal hotel & supplier communication channels to ensure all the guests’ requirements are delivered to the letter, whilst adhering to all internal deadlines.
Be present on the Wedding day or Event day of your customers’ event, ensuring every detail of the day is attended to, e.g. table settings, seating plans and all guests’ requirements.
Maximise the revenue and profit contribution for all the function rooms and track wedding financial performance targets to support effective reporting and forecasting.
Ensure payments and accounts paid in accordance with Mercure Wedding and Event Terms and Conditions.
Maintain a good working knowledge of your Weddings / Events competitor and the local market place, trends, opportunities and pricing and react accordingly.
Drive hotel annual Weddings and Events sales plans in conjunction with the management team to support the achievement of financial targets.
Attend all Open days, Wedding Fairs and Sales Exhibitions and build up a preferred supplier list.
Create and manage a Weddings and Events database tofacilitate the cross selling of Weddings and Events services of the hotel.
Identify Wedding and Events sales opportunities and proactively generate and convert new enquiries.
Attend all company training seminars as required. Comply with all health, safety and legal requirements.

Key Skills:
Confident individual with exceptional sales skills.
You must demonstrate effective organisational skills and the ability to use initiative.
Clearly customer focused with excellent telephone techniques and a positive and progressive outlook.
Exceptional attention to detail and the passion to go the extra mile for our customers. An artistic flair would be an advantage.
Fluency in spoken and written English is essential.

Increase the number of Weddings and Events booked.
Elimination of customer concerns and issues.
Maximise usage of conference rooms and accommodation to ensure optimum revenue is generated.

Technical Skills:
Computer literate, strong customer service and sales background.
Good working knowledge of Opera and Sales and Catering highly desirable.
Customer service experience essential.
Hospitality related HND / Degree advantageous but not essential.
Knowledge of Salesforce or Didgi would be advantageous
1-2 years’ experience in a similar role or environment
