The Compliance Monitoring Manager is responsible for providing compliance support to Royal Mail Plc and its group companies (together “RMG”), specifically the monitoring of day to day compliance with policies and processes to secure RMG’s compliance with its legal and regulatory obligations.

About the role

You’ll be responsible for the existing monitoring framework, proactively developing further monitoring activity and to ensure clear documentation of processes and outcomes for all existing and future monitoring activity.


Through understanding the legal and regulatory framework, which applies to RMG, and using this knowledge you’ll monitor day to day compliance and effectiveness of business policies and processes/ controls, which aim to secure RMG’s compliance with relevant legal and regulatory obligations and prevention of unethical or improper conduct – all ultimately safeguarding our well-loved brand.


You’ll also conduct in-depth periodic internal reviews or audits (including reporting to senior stakeholders) to assess whether  compliance procedures are adhered to whilst maintaining a comprehensive documentation of compliance activities, challenging stakeholders for evidence where required. Keeping informed regarding industry changes, trends, and best practices you’ll assess the potential impact on existing RMG’s existing monitoring framework, identifying required improvements.


Accountable for project managing Royal Mail’s response to any alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and RMG’s code of conduct you’ll ensure appropriate escalation of key compliance matters. Through development and maintaining effective relationships between the Compliance Function and other parts of the business you’ll utilise their expertise and fostering a collegiate and collective approach to compliance monitoring.

About You

Utilising your auditing background (or similar), you’ll have experience of pro-actively monitoring adherence to agreed business policies and/or processes, with the ability to analyse and interpret complex data to identify areas of improvement. With strong project management skills you’ll be self-motivated with a ‘can-do’ attitude, focused on seeking and delivering solutions. You’re ready for a role that will make the most of your ability to manage a heavy and varied work-load alongside being able to adapt in a changing business environment embracing and implement change.


The role will give you a chance to support and implement the vision, strategy, modus operandi and values of RMG and the Compliance Function, with the opportunity to develop and maintain appropriate internal know-how and expertise together with continual improvement.


Your stakeholder management skills will be key as you will need to manage competing priorities and balance conflicting stakeholder requirements, whilst being collaborative and having an accessible approach to allow you to build mutually beneficial relationships, internally and externally. With a proven track record of report writing you’ll possess strong written and oral presentation, communication and negotiation skills.  You have an analytical and creative mind and are able to identify pragmatic solutions.  Some generalist compliance and/or risk management experience would definitely be a bonus but is not a must.
