Randstad are looking for an Quantity Surveyor with a joinery or carpentry background and demonstrable experience working on a variety of fit out and refurbishment construction projects. The successful Quantity Surveyor will be reporting in to the Commercial Director and will be responsible for all surveying duties across a portfolio of work.

Our client is a successful carpentry & joinery specialist contractor with over 20 years experience and committed service to the Construction Industry. Over the years they have gained a reputation as one of the leading specialist joinery contractors in London and the Southeast.

Our client operates across a broad range of sectors, including Commercial, Residential and Mixed Use. Our client both constructs, renovates and refits projects working with clients such as Mace, Berkeley Homes, Quadrant and many more.

Job Purpose:

Our client is currently seeking a Quantity Surveyor with demonstrable experience working on a variety of joinery and carpentry packages. This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to develop their career, whether you're an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor that is ready to take the next step or a stand alone Project Surveyor they can support your progression.

The successful candidate will join an established team in our clients head office in West Kent. You will be responsible for the financial cost control of a number of carpentry and joinery packages primarily on the refurbishment and fit out of mixed use and commercial properties in London and the Southeast

Suitable candidates will hold a relevant professional qualification along with right work experience and astute commercial skills


* Pricing work (Financial Management)
* Undertaking cost analysis for project work;
* Assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies;
* Performing risk, value management and cost control;
* Advising on procurement strategy;
* Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks;
* Preparing and analysing costings for tenders;
* Allocating work to subcontractors / in house ground works team
* Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports;
* Valuing completed work and arranging payments;
* Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use;
* Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations.

Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

* Ideally you will have the experience of working with a contractor within the commercial, residential sectors.
* You will be an articulate, confident communicator, tidy in appearance and able to lead projects with typical values of £250k - £5 million.
* We are looking for a trade background preferably, backed with demonstrable experience gained as a Quantity Surveyor within a refurbishment and fit out environment.
* You must be numerate, organised and analytical.
