Our client, a well-established Care Organisation specialising in Elderly Care/Dementia/Mental Health are looking for a Kitchen/Laundry Assistant to join their team on a permanent basis.

Job Title: Kitchen Assistant

Reporting to: Head Chef

Responsible for: To assist in the preparation and delivery of high quality food and beverages whilst maintaining a clean and safe environment suitable for its production.

Job Purpose: Work in conjunction with other departments to ensure the overall dining experience is consistently delivered to all service users

Essential Job Functions

The following basic and other qualifications are reflective of the types of work and commensurate with the level of education and experience indicated in this Job Description.

All offers of employment are subject to a DBS check.

Food Preparation

Carry out duties within the kitchen area in accordance with the work schedule including:

Preparation of food including vegetables, salads, omelettes and sandwiches;

General cleanliness and tidiness of the kitchen area, equipment and appliances;

Receiving, checking and safely storing kitchen deliveries.

General Support

To demonstrate a can-do attitude towards individual customer requests and strive to exceed customer expectations;

As part of our commitment for continuous improvement and innovation, all colleagues are encouraged to seek ways to improve;

To prepare, produce and serve food to the standard applicable to the Home;

Health and Safety

Understand and implement the principles of safe food handling, to ensure all food preparation undertaken is to the highest possible standards of hygiene;

Understand and implement cleaning procedures and requirements of different surfaces and equipment and the properties of cleaning materials, to ensure the areas are well presented and maintained in good condition;

Practice safe systems of work across a range of tasks in particular moving and handling of loads. Ensuring the policies and procedures are adhered to at all times;

Understand personal responsibilities with regard to Health and Safety at Work legislation, particularly in relation to moving and handling or residents and fire safety and evacuation procedures;

To clean all work areas during and after use and remove all waste to the appropriate area;

To maintain temperature records as required and to report any variance;

Co-operate with your line manager on HSE matters;

Correctly use work equipment, personal protective equipment in accordance with training and instructions provided;

Not interfere with or misuse anything provided for HSE purposes.

General

Act in a professional and courteous manner at all times towards residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident;

Encourage and contribute to working as a team, responding positively to colleagues and acting on all reasonable work instructions promptly

Take care of items of equipment used to carry out tasks, including general cleanliness and advising on any faults and the need for maintenance or replacement;

To actively gain resident feedback, passing information gained onto your line manager;

Responsible for the safe and tidy storage of supplies and equipment in line with your area of work;

Take responsibility to read, understand and adhere to the company policies and procedures.

Location: Poole

Salary: £7.80ph

Hours: Full Time, Saturday - Sunday 8-20.00, Monday 14-21.00, Tuesday 7-13.00
