BMS Controls Engineer

The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Controls Engineer to work in the Midlands area as
part of the Controls Department.

The Role
Responsibilities for this role include:
1. Commissioning of controls projects.
2. Site upgrade/modifications.
3. Chiller sequence controllers.
4. Maintenance of Manufacturer Controls sites.
5. Perform site surveys.
6. Serial interface cards;
a. Troubleshoot site issues
b. Liaise with Customers and Project Engineers.
c. Install interface cards and download programs
7. Train customers
8. Technical Support
9. Provide technical and engineering support where required.
10. Maintain and improve upon personal skills related to the position, through experience and
training.
11. To liaise with customers.
12. Expected to adapt to the many diverse aspects of Controls.
13. Actively work with the controls team to increase efficiency and achieve prescribed targets.
14. Be a focal point for contract customers. Helping to resolve any issues and develop our
commitment to them.
15. Manage larger projects, work as part of the project delivery team.
16. Be flexible in types of work carried out.
17. Be prepared to work away from home.
18. Work overtime when required.

Skills/Experience
1. Logical and methodical approach to problem solving is a must
2. Experience with HVAC application and knowledge of cooling and heating systems.
3. Good electrical knowledge and capable of understanding electrical drawings.
4. Have basic knowledge of IT systems and communication networks.
5. Ability to use own initiative.
6. Have good written & communication skills.
7. Must be able to work on one’s own initiative.
8. Must be conscious about health and safety.
9. Perform all duties and works professionally and to the best of one’s ability.

Desirable Skills
1. Experience with programmable controllers;
a. Carel controllers
b. Trend controllers
c. Tridium Niagara AX software and controllers
2. Knowledge of BMS/DCIM and common communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet)
3. Experience with an object-oriented programming language such as Java, C++, Python
Training will be provided if required
