Resourcing Group is currently recruiting for a National Charity who provide high quality services to vulnerable children and families and who currently deliver Pan-London Prison Visiting services. We are currently working looking recruit an experienced Operations Manager to hold overall accountability, management and leadership responsibilities for the contract.
Our client is a leading light within the sector and has won awards and gained recognition relating to their specialist work. They have a focused mission statement which has enabled them to develop and grow their services in a sustainable and successful manner whilst building a strong culture and working ethic throughout the organisation as a whole.
Synopsis of duties:
* To contribute to the development and lead the implementation of strategy, plans and protocols for services to children and young people and their families affected by imprisonment within the three prison visiting services, ensuring that an excellent service is delivered creating demonstrable and positive impact, while ensuring all visitors of prisoners receive a quality visiting experience.
* To lead on building and maintaining relevant interagency networks in the prisons and in relevant London Boroughs where referrals are to be made, in order to enable best outcomes for the children, young people and families of prisoners.
* To manage delivery of contracts and services, ensuring staff operate in accordance with Spurgeons' Core Values, behaviours and the highest professional standards.
* To develop and maintain appropriate relationships with Prison Governors in their prisons of responsibility, prison-linked voluntary sector organisations and the relevant local authorities to support the continuation and development of services for visiting children and families of prisoners.
* To manage the implementation of staff rotas and effective use of the premises to ensure that the Visitors' Centres and prison Visits Hall services are open fully within contractual expectations (includes Visitors' Centre, Play and Coffee Bar where available).
* To manage and participate in local on-call rota.
* To manage the Visitors' Centres within budget and ensure financial systems are properly controlled and implemented.
* To plan and enable appropriate learning and development for staff within the defined area of responsibility and actively promote continuous professional development both internally and externally (eg. Prison Authorities and LSCB).
* To ensure regular and appropriate supervision for staff and volunteers, and managing performance to objectives and targets.
* To work in proactive cross functional and departmental relationships and systems to ensure the best service and outcomes for children, young people and their families and visitors of prisoners.
* To work within a team approach and ethic within the defined area of responsibility, facilitating and attending meetings and other events as appropriate, both internally within Spurgeons team, with prison departments/colleagues and externally with support services.
* To be responsible for own performance, regularly identifying areas to improve own performance, attending regular monthly supervision, participating in appraisals and undertaking identified learning and development identified in Personal Development Plan.

Essential Requirements:
The successful candidate will need to have significant experience managing interagency services for children, young people and their families (ideally in the community) and/ or within the criminal justice field. They will also need to demonstrate a strong working knowledge of Child Protection and Safeguarding issues and all relevant policy and local government agendas
