We now have an exciting opportunity for a Group Health & Safety Advisor to join the business, to be based in our Midlands Head Office. The position provide comprehensive advice and support in the maintenance and improvement of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality compliance on company premises and operational sites in the UK, reporting directly into the Group HSE Manager.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• Assist the Group HSE Manager in setting the quality strategy each year and monitor progress against the agreed objectives and targets
• To provide professional advice and guidance to members of staff to enable them to safely and effectively deliver their objectives
• To contribute to the on-going development of the company’s HSE Strategy, Policy and Management Systems
• To audit, monitor and report on safety performance and agree any improvement actions necessary to ensure compliance with the above
• To provide informed advice, guidance and support on HSE matters to all parties
• Ensure the implementation of agreed solutions to achieve compliance with HSE Legislation
• To contribute to the preparation of Project HSE Plans and ensure compliance with their requirements
• To provide detailed HSE input into all stages of the project process from initial pre-qualification to contract completion, to ensure that projects are executed in a safe manner
• To undertake site inspections to that ensure the requirements of the company’s HSE Management System, project HSE plans, current HSE legislation and client requirements are addressed and compliance is achieved
• To ensure that corrective actions arising from site inspections are effectively addressed and closed out, and that opportunities for the continuous improvement of safe working practices are fully exploited
• To liaise with Client Safety Representatives and Regulatory Authorities on all HSE issues
• To prevent the adoption of unsafe working practices
• To undertake Accident and Incident Reporting and Accident Investigation, in accordance with the company’s procedures
• To facilitate HSE meetings as appropriate
• To develop and facilitate open communications on HSE issues across project teams
• To monitor and report upon HSE performance in accordance with management reporting requirements, including the identification of areas of concern and opportunities for improvement
• To facilitate HSE visits
• To proactively contribute to the development and delivery of HSE “Best Practice” across the organisation
• To support the development and delivery of a consistent approach to HSE at all times

Role Requirements:

• Minimum five (5) years’ experience gained through increasingly responsible advisory positions within Health, Safety, Environment and Quality
• Related post-secondary education (i.e. degree, diploma or certificate) or equivalent combination of education and experience related to Health, Safety & Environment
• NEBOSH Qualification
• A track record of quality implementation, through a TQM, TPM, LEAN or Six Sigma type programme
• A working knowledge of business processes and an ability to identify areas of improvement
• Knowledge of quality control techniques/systems
• IT literate, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
• Full driving licence
