Premier Pathways is an innovative 2-year teacher training program which will accredit you with a Level-7 PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and 60 Credits towards a Master’s degree. The program is classroom based and you have the final say about the school that you will be joining as a Religious Studies Teacher. Premier Pathways works alongside the University of Buckingham, a leading provider of experience based PGCE courses to help give you a supportive and well-structured experience from day one. There is training from expert practitioners and leaders in several fields of education available for prospective Religious Studies Teachers.

The ideal trainee Religious Studies Teacher will have a strong academic background and a 2:2 degree or above in a related field of study such as theology, PPE or Christian Studies. The successful Religious Studies Teacher will benefit from experience working with young people in some capacity whether in a formal teaching environment or elsewhere. The chosen Religious Studies Teacher will be motivated to join the course and will also see a career in education as a prosperous and rewarding long-term option.

The Premier Pathways program is structured so that there is the maximum support available for potential teachers. The first 2 terms for the Religious Studies Teacher will be structured in a way where there is reduced responsibility and you will conduct small group lessons, 1:1 interventions and general student support. The third term of the first year you will become a Religious Studies Teacher who teaches a 50% timetable with a lot of time allocated to co-teaching, observations and reflective practice. Finally, during the 2nd year you will we be teaching an 50% - 80% timetable which allows you 20% of the time for lesson planning, preparation and book marking.
