Premier Pathways is an innovative 2-year teacher training program which will accredit you with a Level-7 PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and 60 Credits towards a Master’s degree. The program is classroom based and you have the final say about the school that you will be joining as a Geography Teacher. Premier Pathways works alongside the University of Buckingham, a leading provider of experience based PGCE courses to help give you a supportive and well-structured experience from day one. There is training from expert practitioners and leaders in several fields of education available for prospective Geography Teachers.

The ideal trainee Geography Teacher will have a strong academic background and a 2:2 degree or above in a related field of study such as geology, zoology or archaeology. The successful Geography Teacher will benefit from experience working with young people in some capacity whether in a formal teaching environment or elsewhere. The chosen Geography Teacher will be motivated to join the course and will also see a career in education as a prosperous and rewarding long-term option.

The Premier Pathways program is structured so that there is the maximum support available for potential teachers. The first 2 terms for the Geography Teacher will be structured in a way where there is reduced responsibility and you will conduct small group lessons, 1:1 interventions and general student support. The third term of the first year you will become a Geography Teacher who teaches a 50% timetable with a lot of time allocated to co-teaching, observations and reflective practice. Finally, during the 2nd year you will we be teaching an 50% - 80% timetable which allows you 20% of the time for lesson planning, preparation and book marking.
