Support workers needed for adults with mental health conditions and/or substance misuse in Brighton.

Your new company
Hays Social Care have specialised in the sourcing of social care professionals for a number of years and have become a well-respected market leader in many specialist areas through a constant focus on providing outstanding customer service to both our clients and our workers. With Hays Social Care you will be assigned your own consultant who specialises in the area. They will be there to assist you with any queries you may have and will be dedicated to finding you a role within organisations you wish to work for.

Your new role
In your support work job you will enjoy working with and helping people from a variety of backgrounds that require support in relation to mental health conditions and substance misuse, in a residential setting. Residents will require support with mental health issues which will need a patient, understanding and helpful nature. You will provide support to adults who need help, both emotionally and practically, to assist them in living comfortable and independent lives. You will be expected to effectively communicate with the clients, with their relatives and friends, with outside agencies, and with other members of staff in order to deliver an effective care plan for service users. You will ensure the upkeep of resident's records where appropriate and encourage clients to independently complete personal care and administer medications as identified in agreed support plans. On occasions residents can display some challenging behaviour but your excellent communication skills and calm demeanour will assist with de-escalating these situations. You will also be flexible with working hours and happy to fill a variety of shifts.

What you'll need to succeed
In addition to a caring, patient and helpful nature you will ideally have recent experience working with adults in a challenging social care environment. You will also have or be willing to work towards relevant qualifications for the role e.g. NVQ level 2/3 in Health and Social Care. You will be up for the challenge of working with troubled adults with a variety of mental, emotional and behavioural disorders in a demanding but rewarding position. The ability to act as a role model and a mentor to the residents is also essential, along with qualities such as resilience, enthusiasm and good written and verbal communication skills.

What you'll get in return
You will finish your day satisfied that you have made positive difference to a person's life. You will be paid a competitive wage, based on your experience and qualifications and the responsibilities of each assignment. In addition to this you will gain the opportunity to further your experience and skill-set within the social care sector in order to develop a successful and rewarding career.
