Do you enjoy building relationships with customers by phone? Do you thrive on the success of lots of little "wins"? Do you enjoy taking responsibility? If this sounds like you and you enjoy credit control, then this temporary job opportunity, which will lead to a permanent appointment if you're successful, could be for you.

You will be responsible for all aspects of credit control, sales ledger management and accounts receivable. You will be the only Credit Controller within this small accounts department, so you'll be capable of taking charge of your own workload. You will manage a ledger of around 250 live customer (debtor) accounts, ranging from small independent businesses to large corporate accounts within multiple sites. The ledger is quite straightforward and has been well managed with only around 10% of outstanding debt over 90 days. The debt that does fall into query tends to be the larger customers, so, you'll enjoy getting to the bottom of queries and ensuring you have the correct paperwork to prove the debt is due. You will work with the Sales team and you'll be supported by the Sales Reps who will help to chase some of the smaller accounts, when necessary.

Beyond chasing for debt, you'll also be responsible for raising sales invoices, distributing monthly statements, allocating customer payments and completing month-end reconciliations. You'll also help to manage the invoice finance system including daily uploads and draw-downs and monthly reconciliations as well as dealing with the credit insurers. Neither are difficult and if you're not familiar with invoice finance or credit insurance, you'll soon pick it up.

You'll be successful in this role if you enjoy credit control. Your credit control experience is likely to have been developed in previous specialist credit control positions but you may have more general accounting experience and have covered credit control as one of your responsibilities. Either route fine, so long as you're happy to focus on credit control in this position. The business uses Sage, so previous experience of using Sage in the working environment will be an advantage.

The business needs to appoint a permanent Credit Controller but their immediate focus is on appointing a temporary Credit Controller. If you're successful in this temporary assignment, you will be offered a permanent contract.
