Sellick Partnership are currently assisting in the recruitment of a Procurement Officer to join a large organisation based in Gateshead. This is a temporary position due to last initially 3 months.

The successful candidate will provide, enable and support services to the people across the directorates who responsible for making procurement decisions on behalf of the organisation, as well as manage the gateways at key stages of the procurement process. They will also ensure that the most significant procurement decisions are well made, represent value for money and do not expose the organisation to risk.

Responsibilities of the Procurement Officer include but are not limited to…

* Establishing the procurement strategy, policy, procedures and template documents and, working with Legal Services, ensuring that these comply with legislation, government policy and good practice including instruction from Cabinet Office and Crown Commercial Service (CCS);
* Providing guidance and training on the application of the procurement policy and procedures;
* Providing input into individual procurement plans or strategies including identification of potential solutions established by CCS or other central purchasing bodies
* Approving key stages of contracts procured via Contracts Finder and OJEU notices within the eTendering system
* Approving the content of tender documentation and associated information with Procurement Leads with specific focus on the evaluation criteria;
* Moderation of evaluation panels for procurements via OJEU;
* Maintaining a central record of all procurement activity in a contract register;
* Maintaining records of all procurement spend to be provided to DCLG and Cabinet Office on request;
* Monitoring compliance with the transparency obligations for contract awards and publishing expenditure data;

The successful candidate will be CIPS qualifies or possess equivalent experience/skills; public sector procurement including Contracts Finder; OJEU and frameworks and experience of etendering.
