Job: HSEQ Advisor

FPS are recruiting for a leading specialist environmental Water and Wastewater contractor. Our client specialise in municipal and industrial Water & Wastewater treatment design, construction & operation and also mechanical and electrical installation, upgrade and maintenance services.

Our client have a large in house design team, they are able to provide clients with a "one stop shop" service from design and construction through to commissioning, operation and specialist maintenance services

The Job

Proactive and experienced HSQE Advisor to be based in our St Helens office. The successful candidate will work with and support our variety of talented individuals before, during and after the remarkably varied Civil, Building, Water and Waste-water treatment projects that we undertake.

The HSQE department promotes safe working practices across the company. We are responsible for supporting and advising our staff who work in a wide range of fields including Civils, Building, Water & Waste-water Treatment Projects.

Job Specification / Role Responsibilities:

* The role is to support the Regional Director and work with the HSQE team in: ensuring compliance with all current legislation, codes of practice, relevant standards and industry best practice; continuously improving the company policies and procedures; and promoting best practice across all relevant sites.
* Provision of pragmatic and realistic HSE advice, guidance, coaching and training to managers, staff and contractors.
* Working with the HSQE Department on Occupational Health matters.
* Advice and input into the generation of and development of method statements, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
* Investigation of near misses and adverse events.
* Involvement in internal and external inspections and audits and advising on implementation of corrective actions.
* Involvement in Emergency Response Coordination and Emergency Preparedness.
* Supporting implementation of systems concerning new starters.
* Working to ensure environmental aspects and impacts are controlled and meet legislative requirements.
* Working to ensure all waste management standards and energy usage requirements are compliant.
* Collating information supporting HSE metrics.
* Assisting with HSE improvement initiatives.
* Keeping up to date with all new legislation and best practice.
* Assisting with maintaining COSHH compliance.
* Assisting with any interactions and liaising with external bodies e.g. enforcing agencies.

Person Specification / Qualifications & Skills
Preferred competencies and background for the role include (non-exhaustive list):

* Experience in Water Utility and Civil Engineering Industries (5 years or more).
* Recognised HSE qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH, Degree or higher).
* Full driving licence essential.
* Experience with relevant HSQE standards and management systems.
* Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. High standard of written English is essential.
* Strong IT skills.
* Self-motivator with strong organisation skills and an investigative mind.
* Trainer/Instructor qualifications.
*
* Membership of a relevant institution: e.g. IOSH.
