Development Engineer to contribute to the design and support of precision engineering products involving hydraulics, some CFD & control. This job will focus on the design, development and engineering of new mechanical engineering systems and working in a small but dynamic team of like-minded individuals. Strong background in Engineering / Physics is required.

Responsibilities include:

* To provide engineering input including concept design and drawings, prototype design and testing
* BOM management
* Provide engineering support to manufacturing
* Rationalisation of existing products and component parts
* Development of new and existing products from design, manufacturing and value engineering consideration
* Preparation of technical information for standard and new products
* To work closely with members of other departments and external suppliers
* To actively develop your skills and technical knowledge including taking part in on or off the job training
* To pro-actively communicate and work with members of your own and other departments to ensure standards of service to end customer are achieved
* Work closely with department lead in achieving business objectives


* Degree in a mechanical engineering or similar numerate subject (Mathematics / Physics / Science) backed up with commercial experience in this area
* Good communicator
* Strong problem solving skills. The ability to write reports/complete paperwork accurately and legibly
* The ability to plan and manage a varied workload and have a pro-active and flexible attitude
* Sound commercial and demonstrable experience in engineering design
* Excellent CAD skills in a major CAD program

Additional experience in any of the following would be highly beneficial:

* Fluid dynamics and hydraulic component knowledge is highly desirable
* Electrical / Electronics & associated controls software

With a desire to make a real difference and take ownership of the engineering project the Development Engineer must be committed and enthusiastic. Ideally, will demonstrate a passion for engineering both in and out of work. Hobbies involving engineering would be a good indication of passion for this area
