One of the largest not-for-profit organisation's who support people with learning disabilities, autism, challenging behaviour and complex needs are looking for a Male Support Worker to support one young man in the Rufforth, York area.

You will be supporting a young man who enjoys bike riding, swimming, disco's, karoke, walking, music, meeting new people and spending time with family and friends. He will be getting an Autism dog soon, so applicants must be able and willing to take care of and support the young man to take care of all aspects of dog owning. The young man requires 2-1 care so you will be working alongside another support worker at all times.

Although it's not essential that you have experience in care/support, applicants must be confident in supporting someone who can display challenging behaviour, which you will be fully trained for. Applicants also need to be confident drivers and preferably have their own car although the young man does have a vehicle which you may be required to drive.

What you can expect from a Support Worker role:

* Helping people to shop for things they wish to buy including their clothes and food, and to prepare their meals as required.
* Helping people to do their housework, including cleaning and laundry
* Supporting people to find opportunities in education, employment and leisure, and enable them to take part in these opportunities.
* Help the people you support to manage their own money
* Support people with their day to day travel arrangements and holidays as required
* Working in a supportive manner with colleagues families and external parties, building trust by being open and honest.

This position is 37.5 hours per week, you must be prepared to work flexibly. This could include working some weekends, waking nights or sleep-ins if required and bank holidays. This will be discussed with you during the interview process.

Salary and Benefits:

You will be paid at £8.21 per hour and you will also be paid additional for any sleep in's. You will get 30 days annual leave entitlement (including bank holidays) rising to 35 days, pensions, generous sick pay scheme, 10% enhancement for working overtime, career development opportunities, financial bonuses every five years through long service awards, £200 bonus for recommending a friend and many many more!!!
