The Legal team give accurate, appropriate and timely legal advice to departments about managing legal risk within the UK Group.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your legal knowledge and advisory ability by working alongside experienced team members and it is a role that you can really 'get your teeth into' and an opportunity to take on an interesting role with longer term progression opportunities.

* Insurance distribution and outsourcing arrangements: routine (e.g. toba, delegated authority) and bespoke;
* Insurance regulation;
* Consumer related issues - ICOBS, treating customers fairly, financial promotions;
* General commercial matters - supplier contracts (for example IT)

You'll also be able to gain exposure to:

* Data protection
* Financial crime
* Competition;
* Intellectual property;
* Non-insurance related litigation and disputes.

(Our client can support you to develop your knowledge in these areas - experience in data protection/financial crime/competition/IP/non-insurance related litigation and disputes is not essential)

Other aspects of your role will be:

* Ensuring that management and business teams understand and comply with legal and regulatory requirements affecting the business, identifying and effectively managing legal risk
* Supporting internal governance and approval processes, including coordinating with Compliance, Risk, Finance and other internal stakeholders as appropriate
* Carrying out legal research and maintaining awareness of new and emerging legal requirements relevant to the business
* Preparing and delivering internal training to the business on relevant topics
* Supporting the Group General Counsel as required
* Completing other activity over and above those listed in the role profile, appropriate to your skills and experience

The person:

* Qualified lawyer (with a qualification that can be applied to the UK legal system)
* Substantial PQE (this would typically be at least 4 - 5 years PQE but we will consider all applicants with substantial experience)
* Insurance and general commercial experience (in-house or working for a law firm)
* Excellent communication and influencing skills
* Commercial awareness
* Ability to develop and sustain relationships with internal and external parties at all levels
* Strong planning and organisation - you need to be able to work to deadlines
