Vocational Tutor / Assessor – Joinery & Construction

Position: Vocational Tutor / Assessor – Joinery & Construction 
Location: Bradford with possible delivery at alternative locations 
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent 
Hours: 37 hours per week 
Salary: £26,000 per annum

About the role: 

An opportunity has arisen for a Vocational Tutor / Assessor in carpentry and joinery, within their Learner Delivery Team reporting to their Centre coordinator, who will be responsible for providing delivery of a full range of vocational training and support services associated with their contracted Programmes. This would include teaching and learning, assessment and learner support from Entry to Level 3, leading to further training, vocational pathways and employment opportunities. You would need to plan, monitor, support and train learners on their contracted programmes to ensure planned programmes are completed in a timely manner. 


- Train and teach learners skills in vocational areas the skills needed to ensure that they gain the relevant knowledge and skills that lead to vocational pathways and employment opportunities. 
- Use and create learning materials that enhance learner`s practical and technical employability skills and prepare them for their exams and further employment and / or training and raise motivation and self-esteem. 
- Contribute to the development of schemes of work, session plans and learning resources to support flexible learning strategies and to meet the learning aims of learners. 
- Contribute to the planning and scheduling process of both teaching, learning and assessment to ensure that learners gain the relevant knowledge and skills that lead to vocational pathways and employment opportunities. 
- Support learners to find suitable work experience placements which support their chosen career path and aspirations, and visit them in the workplace and assess them as part of their Study programme or Apprenticeship to ensure the successful achievement of their programme in line with contractual requirements and targets. 

About you: 

To be considered for this role, you must demonstrable occupational competence in Joinery or Carpentry, and be familiar with Awarding Bodies. You should be able to design and deliver training appropriate to their learners and have previous experience working with young people. 

You must have a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, CTTLS, DTTLS). A Skills for Life or Functional skills qualification in English, maths and ICT, a D32 and D33, A1 award or Level 3 Certificate in assessing vocational achievement would be desirable but not essential. 

Furthermore, you will demonstrate licensed practitioner status and meet annual personal CPD requirements, including reporting CPD to IFL. With an understanding of work based learning approaches and of assessment practices in line with awarding body requirements, you will have experience of designing learning resources and have an awareness and understanding of local labour markets. You will also have knowledge of NVQ`s / SVQ`s and SASE Frameworks. 

In addition, you will have a good understanding and a strong commitment to widening access to learning and development and boosting learner completion, achievement and employment.
