Tradewind Social Care are currently recruiting for a Youth Offending Service Worker to join the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

To work in conjunction with the other workers in the Youth Offending Service to co-ordinate and administer various tasks to reduce crime by children and young people.

Main duties:
Undertake assessments with Youth Offending Team staff and deliver interventions to young people receiving final warnings
To assess young people who are at risk of having bail denied by the court
To devise and implement suitable community programmes to support periods of remand as and where appropriate
To assess young peoples offending behaviour and personal circumstances with a view to identifying the most appropriate service response which minimises the risk of re-offending and promotes the personal development of the young person
To devise and implement programmes for young people subject to a range of court orders
To work with young people in Detention Training Centre , secure units to reduce the risk of re-offending, promote their personal and educational development and prepare them for release

Essential skills and experience needed:
Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload, meet immovable deadlines and to respond to unanticipated problems/requirements
Ability to effectively and competently represent the YOT in a range of formal settings particularly the court environment gaining the confidence of sentence’s in the services provided by the youth offending service
Experience of direct work with young people and their families at risk of offending or involved in offending or in an associated public sector setting
Knowledge and understanding of child and adolescent development, associated relevant childcare legislation including Children’s Act 2004 and 1989 and anticipated national developments

Job requirements:
Must have a minimum of 2 years’ recent experience working within Youth Offending Service
An enhanced DBS of satisfactory level is essential
